About the Workshop
This 2-day flower-painting workshop invites artists to explore the expressive power of light, color, and movement through a vibrant floral still life. Designed for painters who want to loosen up their brushwork and energize their process, the class focuses on creating believable yet impressionistic flowers using an alla prima (wet-into-wet) approach.
Workshop Overview:
Working from a carefully arranged floral still life, students will learn how to interpret — rather than copy — what they see. The emphasis is on capturing the effects of light on petals, temperature shifts within shadows, and rhythmic movement of stems and blooms. Instead of carefully rendering every detail, intentional, confident brushstrokes will be used to suggest form, allowing color and gesture to do much of the storytelling. The goal is not botanical accuracy, but emotional truth to create paintings where flowers feel alive, luminous, and in motion.

Artist Statement
Art has been a lifelong passion, with drawing and painting at the heart of everything I do. I work almostexclusively from life, finding ordinary people, places, and everyday objects to be the most compelling andrewarding subjects. My preferred choice of medium is oil, but I also enjoy painting in gouache, and pastel, and charcoal for drawing.
I was fortunate to grow up with artistic parents who nurtured my creativity and shared their love of the fine arts.My father, a successful illustrator, taught me the fundamentals of drawing and painting, providing the foundation for my artistic career. Just as he generously shared his knowledge with me, I find great fulfillment in passing along what I have learned throughout my own artistic journey. Teaching, mentoring, and sharing both my process and my artwork are among the most rewarding aspects of my career.
