Day 1: Structural Foundations & The Block-In
Anatomy & Proportions: Break down the essential landmarks and structural planes of the skull—the key to judging value shifts accurately.
Dynamic Connections: Master neck and shoulder anatomy to ensure the head sits naturally and all physical relationships work cohesively.
The Oil Block-In: Translate your structural knowledge directly onto the canvas, establishing accurate values and a strong foundational drawing.
Day 2: Value, Light, & Impressionist Color
Matching Value to Color: Transition from your monochromatic underpainting into full color without losing your established values.
Impressionist Color Theory: Learn to use vibrant, temperature-based color choices to capture the illusion of light and atmosphere.
The Art of Likeness: Discover the "secrets" to capturing a true likeness while keeping your paint fresh and your relationships accurate.
Cost is $165.00 for Members and $210.00 for Non-Members. Space is Limited to 12 students.
About Instructor
Kerry was born in Seattle, Washington in 1957 and grew up in the Pacific Northwest. Kerry received her formal art training the old-fashioned way studying directly with master instructors. Her most influential instructors were, Daniel Greene, Robert Liberace, Lois Griffel, & Dan Thompson.
Kerry is known for her masterful Flamenco Dancers paintings, portraits and landscapes. She has painted state officials, children and corporate portraits. Her global cliental ranges from Australia, the United States and Europe.
A passionate teacher Kerry and her husband, James Vosler, co-founded in 2010, the Vosler Young Artists’ Studio, A Classical Atelier for children under eighteen in Tampa, Florida. The mission to provide fundamental drawing skills and her dedication to her students has led them to wonderful opportunities to excel in the art world. Her school is Nationally recognized and an Art Renewal Center Approved Atelier (ARC).
Kerry has been on the faculty of the Portrait Society of America. In 2020 Kerry was appointed as the National and International Ambassador Coordinator, Portrait Society of America. Kerry continues to be a driving force for the preservation of fine arts education. She teaches adult workshops and classes in portrait, figure, and en plein air landscape from her atelier in Brandon, Florida.
